Swedish biotech company Biovica International AB (FN STO:BIOVIC-B) announced on Wednesday that it has received a new patent from the Japanese Patent Office covering the use of TKa in relation to immune checkpoint inhibitor treatment in cancer patients.
This patent extends Biovica's intellectual property protection in immuno-oncology to Japan, following a corresponding European patent granted in 2025, and complements ongoing applications in other major markets including the United States and China.
The company said the protection supports its position in immuno-oncology, a rapidly growing area of cancer treatment driven by immune checkpoint inhibitors in a multi-billion-dollar global market.
The patent specifically covers the use of TKa to identify cancer patients more likely to respond to immune checkpoint inhibitor therapies.
Biovica stated that the expanded protection strengthens the commercial potential of DiviTum TKa in cancer monitoring applications.
