Enodia Therapeutics, a biotechnology company developing novel small-molecule therapies for targeted protein degradation at the point of synthesis, said on Tuesday that it has entered into a research collaboration and licence agreement with US biopharmaceutical company Pfizer Inc (NYSE:PFE) to discover and develop small-molecule Sec61 inhibitors, with the goal of advancing novel therapeutics through Enodia's proprietary platform.
The platform enables selective modulation of the Sec61 translocon to inhibit disease-driving proteins at the point of synthesis while preserving essential physiological functions. Enodia's research capabilities include multiple Sec61 inhibitor families, proteomics, cryo-electron microscopy and specialized cell-line libraries, supported by machine learning-driven molecular design.
Under the agreement, Enodia will lead discovery activities, including screening, optimisation and development of inhibitor candidates across multiple targets. Pfizer will assume responsibility for clinical development, manufacturing, regulatory affairs and commercialisation following the collaboration term.
Enodia will receive an upfront payment and is eligible for research, development and sales milestone payments, along with tiered royalties on net sales. The agreement's total potential value exceeds USD500m.
