Taiwan orders an additional 36 million doses of Moderna's COVID-19 vaccine
22 July 2021 -

The government of Taiwan has ordered a further 36 million doses of Moderna Inc's (Nasdaq:MRNA) COVID-19 vaccine, Reuters news agency reported on Thursday.

Cabinet spokesman Lo Ping-cheng was quoted as telling reporters that the contract, which adds to the five million doses already ordered, was signed on Wednesday.

"This number is slightly more than the 30 million doses we had originally expected," Lo said, though he did not say when they might start arriving.

To date, Taiwan has received about nine million COVID-19 vaccine doses of Moderna and AstraZeneca plc (LON:AZN), including almost six million doses donated by Japan and the United States.
