1 October 2012 - Grifols, a healthcare company that produces medicines derived from human plasma, announced on Friday that it has a strong inventory of HyperRAB(r) S/D to overcome United States supply constraints caused by an increase in rabies exposures during 2012.

The medicine offers immediate immune protection to patients who are exposed to rabies but have not yet been vaccinated against the virus.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention had reported on September 19 that the company’s HyperRAB(r) S/D is the only immune globulin offered in sufficient quantities to meet the market demand for rabies post-exposure prophylaxis.
