1 October 2012 - Abbott (NYSE: ABT), a health care company devoted to the discovery, development, manufacture and marketing of pharmaceuticals and medical products, including nutritionals, devices and diagnostics, announced on September 28th that it has received approval for HUMIRA from the United States Food and Drug Administration.

The company has received approval for HUMIRA to induce and sustain clinical remission in adult patients with moderate to severely active ulcerative colitis, when certain other medicines have proved unsatisfactory.

The medicine is now approved for the treatment of two primary diseases - inflammatory bowel disease and moderate to severe Crohn’s disease.
