REGiMMUNE launches Phase I/II trial of RGI-2001
1 February 2012 - REGiMMUNE Corporation announced on Tuesday the launch of its Phase I/II study of the RGI-2001 compound for Graft versus Host Disease (GvHD) associated with hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.

The study will enrol some 50 bone marrow or peripheral blood stem cell transplantation leukemia patients who have undergone a round of chemotherapy. The safety and efficacy study will be conducted in five cancer centres across the US.

RGI-2001 is a liposomal formulation of KRN7000, a synthetic derivative of alpha-galactosylceramide. The compound uses REGiMMUNE's reVax technology which promotes transplantation tolerance by inducing regulatory T (Treg) cells.

REGiMMUNE also said it has raised USD5m (EUR3.8m) in the first tranche of a Preferred A financing round by Daiwa Enterprise Co Ltd and Japan Asia Investment Corporation (JAIC).
