Indian pharmaceutical companies Lupin Limited (BSE: 500257; NSE: LUPIN) said on Thursday it has agreed an exclusive licensing deal with commercial-stage ophthalmic pharmaceutical company Tenpoint Therapeutics Ltd., granting Lupin's subsidiary VISUfarma B.V. rights to YUVEZZI (carbachol and brimonidine tartrate ophthalmic solution) 2.75%/0.1% across the EU, the UK, Switzerland, Norway and Iceland.
VISUfarma will lead regulatory activities, commercialisation, marketing and distribution in these territories.
Under the agreement, VISUfarma will make a strategic investment in Visus Therapeutics Inc., the US subsidiary of Tenpoint Therapeutics Holding Limited. Tenpoint and Visus will be eligible for regulatory and commercial milestone payments and tiered royalties on net sales.
YUVEZZI is a once-daily, dual-agent eye drop for presbyopia and is already authorised by the US FDA. Tenpoint is advancing US commercialisation and has submitted a UK marketing application via the MHRA's International Recognition Procedure, with further filings planned in other regions.
Lupin said the addition of YUVEZZI strengthens its specialty care strategy and expands its ophthalmology franchise in Europe. The product combines carbachol, which constricts pupils to aid near-vision focus, with brimonidine, which limits dilation.
