Life sciences and diagnostics company Revvity Inc (NYSE:RVTY) announced on Wednesday that it has agreed to acquire France-based biotechnology company Human Cell Design (HCD), strengthening its portfolio of human-relevant cell models for diabetes, obesity and other metabolic diseases.
This acquisition will add HCD's human pancreatic beta cell models to Revvity's Life Sciences portfolio, supporting drug discovery, screening and preclinical research, including GLP-1 and other metabolic therapies.
HCD's flagship EndoC-betaH5 model is designed to provide a human-relevant platform for studying beta cell physiology and function, while its NatLine platform supports the development of functionally consistent human cell models.
The combination will integrate HCD's models with Revvity's cell analysis, detection, high-content screening and gene-editing capabilities, including HTRF, AlphaLISA, pHSense and ATPlite technologies. The companies expect the combined capabilities to support increasingly complex cellular data analysis and wet-lab validation of AI-generated scientific insights.
HCD's technology also supports research into regenerative medicine for Type 1 diabetes and quality control as cell-based therapies progress toward commercialisation.
Subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals, the transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026. Financial terms were not disclosed.
