Nortiva Bio Inc announced on Thursday its launch as a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on developing long-acting oral medicines using its proprietary LYNX drug delivery platform.
Nortiva is a wholly owned subsidiary of diversified biopharmaceutical company Innoviva Inc (NASDAQ:INVA), which acquired the LYNX platform from Lyndra Therapeutics Inc in 2025.
The LYNX platform is designed to convert daily oral medications into single-dose therapies lasting up to one month, with potential applications across multiple therapeutic areas, including a monthly oral contraceptive. It is based on research from MIT and has demonstrated clinical validation, including a successful Phase 3 study and dosing in more than 270 individuals across clinical programmes.
The platform has recorded nearly 600 human administrations and more than 1,300 animal administrations. It is supported by over 50 granted patents covering its design and materials science.
Nortiva's lead development programme targets a once-monthly oral contraceptive supported by a USD5m Gates Foundation grant, aimed at improving adherence and addressing unmet global needs in family planning.
The company is also pursuing partnerships with biotechnology and pharmaceutical firms to develop long-acting oral versions of approved and pipeline therapies using the LYNX system.
