11 January 2013 - Pharmaceutical company Anavex Life Sciences Corp (OTC Markets :AVXL) revealed on Thursday the appointment of Athanasios (Tom) Skarpelos as its director with effect from 9 January 2013.

According to the company, Skarpelos, a self-employed investor with 17 years of experience, has served as its consultant for one year, interacting with researchers at academic institutes in Europe and North America.

Currently, Skarpelos is a founder member as well as the largest shareholder of the company.

In addition, the company has announced the resignation of Robert Chisholm as its president, secretary, treasurer, chief financial officer and director, effective 9 January 2013.

Also effective the same date, Sean Lowry has stepped down as a director of the company.
