31 January 2012 - German Stada Arzneimittel AG (ETR:SAZ) said on Tuesday it had finalised the acquisition of the generics business of Swiss Spirig Pharma for CHF97m (USD106.1m/EUR80.5m).

The parties commenced discussions on the matter in May 2011.

Sales generated by Spirig Pharma's generics business will be consolidated retroactively in Stada's financial results as of 1 January 2012.

The newly-acquired product portfolio includes 56 prescription (RX) and 15 non-prescription (OTC) and discretionary prescription (OTX) products. The agreement also includes the sales channels of the business.

According to Stada, this portfolio will generate annual sales of approximately CHF42m and earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBIDTA) of about CHF9.5m.
