19 June 2013 - TWi Biotechnology, a fully owned subsidiary of TWi Pharmaceuticals Inc, has completed enrolment of patients with acute arthritis of primary gout and elevated serum uric acid in AC-201 phase II trial for gout flare prophylaxis during urate-lowering therapy, it was reported yesterday.

The trial is being conducted in eight medical centres in Taiwan. The double-blind, placebo-controlled study randomised 82 patients in 1:1 ratio with 50mg AC-201 or placebo, two times each day along with urate-lowering therapy during the treatment period covering 16 weeks.

TWi Biotechnology president, Dr. Calvin Chen, stated that the patient enrolment for the study has been completed before schedule.
