Umecrine Mood starts Phase I/II study of UC1010 in premenstrual dysphoric disorder
23 May 2013 - 23 May 2013 - Swedish Umecrine Mood AB, part of pharmaceutical group Umecrine AB, said Thursday it had launched a Phase I/II trial of its drug candidate UC1010 in patients with premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD).

The drug is intended to decrease the activity of a breakdown product of a sex hormone on the brain's emotional centre.

The randomised, double-blind, multi-centre trial will assess the safety and efficacy of UC1010 in 120 patients.

Currently, PMDD is treated mainly with antidepressants.
