Chembio wins USD 750,000 US govt contract for POC diagnostic test
23 May 2013 - 23 May 2013 - US point-of-care diagnostic tests developer Chembio Diagnostics Inc (NASDAQ:CEMI) said today it had received up to USD 750,000 (EUR 582,000) cooperative research agreement from the US government to develop POC diagnostic tests for five infectious diseases associated with febrile illness and to multiplex them into one assay.

The eight-month project also includes that the test would be optimised for use with a mobile reader that features cell phone technology to allow the results to be recorded, transmitted and monitored remotely via a cloud system.

Chembio's senior VP of R&D Javan Esfandiari said that the company's Dual Path Platform (DPP) technology, combined with the mobile reader being used in the project, will enable real time data collection and monitoring capabilities.
