23 May 2013 - 23 May 2013 - US nonprofit health system Intermountain Healthcare will establish its first cancer genomic unit at its Dixie Regional Medical Center, St. George, Utah, KUTV reported on Tuesday.

Intermountain was cited as saying that the new programme establishes the organisation as one of the first in the US to offer cancer treatment by using genetic sequencing.

Intermountain's cancer genomics unit will be headed by Dr Lincoln Nadauld. Dr Nadauld commented that the new approach offers less side effects and additional treatment options for advanced cancers.
