22 May 2013 - 22 May 2013 - US point-of-care diagnostic test developer Chembio Diagnostics Inc (NASDAQ:CEMI) said Tuesday that products based on its patented Dual Path Platform (DPP) would be sold in Brazil, under an international assembly and distribution deal with Brazilian diagnostics maker Labtest Diagnostica SA.

As part of the agreement, Chembio will produce and market certain specialised test components to Labtest and will obtain a royalty by its partner, based on sales of its DPP products. On the other hand, the Brazilian company will manufacture certain reagents and perform assembly and packaging operations in the country, as well as will market, promote and distribute the products in Brazil.

The collaborators will start product registration activities for an initial group of infectious disease products as soon as possible and sales are anticipated to begin by early 2014.

The deal also includes the option that other products and territories outside the USA may be added following agreement by both parties.
