27 July 2012 - Horizon Pharma Inc (NASDAQ: HZNP), a biopharmaceutical company that is developing and commercialising medicines to target unmet therapeutic needs in arthritis, pain and inflammatory diseases, announced today that its RAYOS(r) (prednisone) delayed-release tablets have received approval from the United States Food and Drug Administration.

The medicine is available in one mg, two mg and five mg doses, and will be used to treat a range of diseases including rheumatoid arthritis , polymyalgia rheumatica , psoriatic arthritis , ankylosing spondylitis , asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

The FDA approval was supported by data connecting the pharmacokinetics of RAYOS to immediate-release prednisone and data from the Circadian Administration of Prednisone in RA (CAPRA-1 and 2) trials.
